Newsletter: July Benefits and Disability Pride Month

Happy July! I'm thinking of all of us who don't like loud explosions in the sky, both furry and not, and hoping we make it through with the least amount of body shakes we can. I know a bunch of people are also going through a heat wave too, so sending cool thoughts of Alaska rain your way. If you or your pets are having difficulty with the heat I suggest buying some plain, red, garden bricks and keeping them in your freezer! This is a trick I learned when I had rabbits, who have difficulty regulating their body temp, but it's so handy for all sorts! They give off less condensation than regular ice packs and are reusable. You can also pop them in the oven for a heating pack if you get stuck in a cold snap. We are still using the bricks I bought for my rabbits almost 18 years ago, they've longer than I expected!
Disability Pride Sale!
While queer pride month is coming to an end disability pride month is just beginning! As a queer person with multiple chronic issues both months are important to me, but disability pride doesn't make as big of a splash. I've added some new disability pride stickers to my shop, four new body badges and a joking cry for the chemical help many of us depend on. You can get 10% off all the stickers in the disability pride category all of July! I hope some of these help you feel as seen as I felt making them. If anyone has suggestions for other body badges you'd like to see I'm always happy to hear them!
The Color in Focus this month is: potter's pink! I actually had made up a completely false story in my head about why it was called "potter's" and when looking up the history for this newsletter got corrected! I assumed based on the muted pink that it was named Potter's after Beatrice Potter, whose color palette for her illustrations look like it belongs with this pink. Turns out the "potter" is for someone who throws pots and an unnamed potter came up with this pigment known for its intense granulation. This pigment is almost entirely exclusive to watercolor, with only a couple acrylic and oil options using the actual pigment or another pigment to mimic the color. I'm excited to use the texture in this paint to the best of its ability!
